Baked Char Siu Bao
Our interpretation
Tim Ho Wan, a Michelin one-star dim sum restaurant from Hong Kong,
One of Tim Ho Wan's most famous dim sum is the baked Char Siu Bao. The baked bun filled with BBQ pork Char Siu wrapped in a fluffy bread with a sweet crispy dough.
About ten years ago, I visited Tim Ho Wan Restaurant in Sham Shui Po (Hong Kong) for the first time with my girlfriend. Many people were waiting in front of the door. And finally it took us about 45 minutes to get a seat. The food was delicious. I can't get the crispy dough and juicy filling out of my mind since then.
Recently, my girlfriend visited me in Germany. We talked about the Tim Ho Wan restaurant again. And about the fried Char Siu Bao. So I want to introduce to you all, this dim sum.
I can proudly say my baked char siu bao is really delicious 🙂 .
What is Baked BBQ Pork Buns?
BBQ Pork Buns, also well known named “cha siu bao,” are one of the most famous kinds of Cantonese dim sum. The Baked Pork Bun is soft and light, the top layer sweet and crumbly, and the warm meaty inside so delightful. Traditional steamed BBQ Pork buns are airy and even a little spongy compared to baked buns. Both are delicious and it depends on what you like.
What is Tim Ho Wan
Tim Ho Wan was founded by Chef Mak Kwai Pui and Chef Leung Fai Keung. Chef Mak Kwai Pui was previously from the renowned Lung King Heen restaurant, which has three Michelin stars, located in the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong. In 2009, the two chefs collaborated to open their first 20-seat dim sum restaurant in Mongkok.
A year later, they would earn their own one Michelin star. More branches opened, each earning its own Michelin star. The accolades for serving superb food at affordable prices soon followed. Indeed, Tim Ho Wan is often called the most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant in the world! Source https://www.timhowan.com/
