Pillar: The Peking Duck · Preparation · Serving · Carving · Wine pairing

Peking Duck with accompaniments – traditionally sliced duck with cucumber strips, scallions, homemade pancakes and Hoisin sauce on rustic wooden table

For how many people is one Peking Duck enough?

Short answer: If you eat mainly Peking Duck, one duck is typically enough for 2–3 people.

You also get pancakes, spring onions, cucumber and sauce – which increases the total “shareable” amount a lot.

With 4 people: one duck or two?

Recommendation: One duck can work if you share additional dishes (dim sum, vegetables). If you want a truly Peking-Duck-focused dinner where everyone gets “really full”, two ducks are ideal.

Peking Duck Pure vs Peking Duck Menu – what’s the difference?

PURE (one course): duck + pancakes + scallions + cucumber + sauce served together. You can wrap meat and skin together.

MENU (two courses): skin first (maximum crunch) with pancakes; the meat returns as a second course with vegetables and rice.

How do you eat Peking Duck properly?

You place a pancake, add duck skin (or meat+skin), scallions, cucumber and sauce, then roll or fold.

Can I order Peking Duck to go (and reheat at home)?

Yes. Many guests do. Reheating is simple:

Convection oven 220°C → put the duck (in the aluminum dish) directly into the oven → about 4 minutes for crisp skin again.

How is Peking Duck prepared (quick pointer)?

True crisp skin + juicy meat depends on preparation: air separation between skin and meat, blanching, maltose glaze, controlled drying.

Is Peking Duck gluten-free? (allergens)

The duck itself is generally gluten-free. However, pancakes contain wheat and classic sauces may contain gluten.

Please tell us ahead of time so we can offer suitable alternatives.

How big is a Peking Duck (how much is edible)?

Typical ducks are around 2.2–2.4 kg (raw, depending on batch). After roasting and bone weight, the edible share is lower – but pancakes and sides increase the total serving experience significantly.

How fast do you serve the duck at the table?

We specialize in Peking Duck. Once it is ready, carving and serving are done within minutes.
